The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday reduced the death penalty imposed on the Dandupalya gang to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 each.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice John Michael Cunha passed the order while modifying the order of the special court, which had imposed death penalty on Dodda Hanuma, Venkatesha, Munikrishna and Nalla Thimma.
The special court, in its January 2012 verdict, found their acts as rarest of rare instances for imposing death penalty while convicting them for committing dacoity and murdering Susheela in Jayalakshmipuram police limits of Mysuru city in September 2000.
