A City Civil and Sessions Court in Bangalore has issued a warrant of attachment of movables in the office of the Chief Secretary for failure of the State government to pay compensation for acquired land.

The court passed the order on an execution petition filed by N. Rajanna (65) and B. Sathyanarayana Rao (69), in whose favour various courts have had passed orders on compensation due to them for acquiring their land for the Defence Research and Development Organisation about 14 years ago.

Even after the prolonged litigations over compensation ended two years ago before the apex court, the government failed to release Rs. 66.74 lakh due to them.

Their two acres of land at Tirumenahalli in Bidarahalli hobli, Bangalore South taluk, was acquired in 1999, and an initial compensation of Rs. 3.15 lakh an acre was awarded to them. However, after they contested the award in various courts, the authorities were directed to pay the market price for their land.
