A married couple reportedly committed suicide at Halepete Extension in Kadur town in Chikkamagaluru district on Sunday night. The deceased are identified as Soumya (28) and her husband Lokesh (32). The couple had a 15-month old baby daughter.
The police said Soumya consumed poison on Sunday night following a squabble with her husband. She was upset with Lokesh as he had gone out for dinner with his friends and had not picked up her phone calls. She was taken to a hospital in Kadur, where she was declared dead around 10.30 p.m. Later in the midnight Lokesh, disappointed with his wife’s death, hanged himself at home, the police said.
Kadur police have registered the case.
