Some councillors in the Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC), who had decided to bring in a “no-confidence motion” against its president B. Siddaraju and vice-president Chandrakala Shivaram, said that they have requested the CMC Commissioner N.M. Shashikumar to convene a meeting of the council on May 14.

“We have submitted a letter to Mr. Shashikumar on Saturday urging him to convene a meeting of the council on May 14,” a Councillor told The Hindu here on Sunday.

According to him, 22 Councillors had signed the letter that requested for a special meeting of the Council to be convened to discuss the motion.

A letter with the same demand was submitted to Mr. Shashikumar recently. Nevertheless, Mr. Siddaraju had neglected the demand. That has prompted the councillors to submit another letter, he said.

In the letter, they expressed their dissatisfaction over the style of functioning of Mr. Siddaraju and Ms. Shivaram.
