Corruption remains the most searched topic on Google Search Trends and the Jan Lokpal and issues around it are the most searched topic based on recent interest, says a press release from Google. Black money is another topic that was of interest to browsers.
The search engine said the trends over the last three months revealed interesting insights into some key issues that have dominated headlines recently .
Adarsh Housing Society scam continues to dominate search trends almost three years after it was exposed. The 2G scam, closely followed by the Coal Gate scam, too remain high in voter’s minds, the release said.
The search engine also witnessed high interest in riots — mainly 1984 Sikh riots, 2002 Gujarat riots and the Muzzafarnagar riots in Uttar Pradesh last year.
Political developmentsThe other recent political developments that have been driving search trends are Rahul Gandhi’s recent (and first) television interview, the recent win of Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly.
Government schemesAmong the government schemes for the common man, the release said, MNREGA is the most searched topic followed by the Right to Information, Food Security Bill, Land Acquisition Bull, Sexual Violence Bill, Telengana State Bill and Women Reservation Bill.
