A constable working in Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa’s security wing was on Saturday attacked by an eight-member gang in front of his house near here, police said.

Gangaraju (35) was on leave and was at his home in Nelamangala near here when the attack took place. The assailants came in a vehicle and knocked at his door on the pretext of asking an address.

When Mr. Gangaraju came out, two of them stabbed him from behind and fled, they said.

“Mr. Gangaraju has been admitted to a private hospital in Nelamangala and is stated to be recovering after a minor surgery,” they said.
