A police sub-inspector Jagadish was stabbed to death and another constable Venkateshmurthy was injured when two armed bike thieves attacked them on Friday in Bengaluru.

While Jagadish died on the spot, the constable sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to Nelamangala government hospital.

The SI and two constables were tipped off on Friday noon about two notorious thieves, Raghu and Krishna. After a hot pursuit, the thieves were cornered and overpowered. In a bid to escape, they attacked Jagadish and Venkatamurthy with lethal weapon and escaped. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed probe. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the duo who are on the run.
