Controversial video clip: Karnataka BJP leader denies involvement

October 10, 2013 02:26 pm | Updated 02:26 pm IST - Bidar:

Ravi Swamy, BJP district unit secretary and former member of the Bidar City Municipal Council, has denied involvement in the case where a sleazy video clip was used to allegedly defame BJP and Congress leaders.

He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the broadcast of the clip of striptease by some Kannada news channels on October 4.

Mr. Swamy, who was released on bail on Tuesday, told reporters on Wednesday that he had “zero per cent involvement in this affair”. He, however, said the cameramen of two channels had recorded statements of a woman in his office.

The woman was identified by the channels as the dancer in the footage. This woman was also quoted as saying Rajshekar Patil, Congress MLA, and BJP leaders Babu Wali and B.S. Kudre were regular visitors to such dance parties in Hyderabad.

K. Thiyagarajan, Superintendent of Police, said investigations were on to arrest the local representative of a news channel, and the woman.
