Continuous monitoring to check adulteration

March 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Mysuru:

The district administration will constitute a special team to check adulteration of food, vegetables and fruits.

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha has directed the officials to crackdown on such practices and prosecute those adulterating food products. She said there were complaints from the public and elected representatives that fruits and vegetables were being injected with chemicals to lend them a rich colour and hence the matter has to be investigated. Though an official said that samples of cut fruits were subjected to chemical investigations and not found to be adulterated or injected with chemicals, the Deputy Commissioner remained unconvinced and called for continuous monitoring. Samples of fruits should be subjected to analysis, she added.
