A police constable attached to Hubballi Town police station was suspended on Tuesday for reportedly sharing a post on Facebook seeking the Chief Minister’s resignation over the farm loan waiver issue.

The police constable, Arun Dollin, had reportedly shared the post which read: “18 dina aadru saala manna maadilla, Kumaraswamiyavare raajiname yaavaaga ” (Even after 18 days, there has been no loan waiver. When will you resign, Mr. Kumaraswamy?).

Several people took exception to the post and to the fact that Mr. Dollin, in spite of being a government employee, had shared the post that was against the government. Many news channels had also reported the matter.

Police Commissioner M.N. Nagaraj told The Hindu that following news reports about the post, the constable had been suspended, pending inquiry, as such a behaviour was unbecoming of a policeman.

However, according to some people, the post was not visible on his wall on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, police sources said the constable had reportedly shared several posts that supported the BJP and also those against the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular).
