The city on Tuesday witnessed a different function altogether with members of different parties refraining from speaking politics and emphasising on the need for shunning politics in development. And in an unusual gesture, Congressmen showered praises on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
While it was natural for BJP State president and MP Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Union Minister H.N. Ananthkumar to praise their partyman for his ‘help’ in developing various roads including national highways in Karnataka, State Public Works Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, and district-in-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni of Congress also did not hesitate to praise Mr. Gadkari for his work.
Both the Ministers spoke of not indulging in politics in issues concerning development. Mr. Mahadevappa described Mr. Gadkari as “a visionary and statesman’, who sanctioned projects without discrimination without looking at party affiliations and took on-the-spot decisions.
Mr. Mahadevappa even announced that the State government would ‘stand by him’ when it came to developmental works.
