The Congress has won the Kembhavi Town Municipal Council (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Kakkara TMC, when the election results were announced on Wednesday.

The Congress won 14 of the 23 seats in Kembhavi TMC, while the BJP won eight seats and an Independent secured one seat. The BJP won 13 of the 23 seats in the Kekkara TMC. The Congress won 10 seats.

Elections

The elections to the TMCs were held on April 24. The Congress was in power in Kembhavi and Kakkera when they were zilla panchayats.

Narasimha Naik, former Minister, told The Hindu that people were not happy with the Congress government’s “insensitive” administration and the party victory was a “boost” for the 2018 Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the Congress has accepted defeat. “We accept the verdict of the voters,” Marigowda Hulakal, president of the district Congress committee, said.
