G. Parameshwara, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, will go by the decision of the party high command on whether he should contest in the parliamentary elections. “I am an ordinary soldier of the party. I will do what the high command wants me to do,” he said when asked whether he was aspiring to go to Parliament.
Dr. Parameshwara, while talking to presspersons soon after a meeting with party leaders and workers here on Wednesday, said that the party would certainly consider new faces for the parliamentary elections given that the leadership was keen on giving an opportunity to promising talents with leadership and good administrative qualities. Hence, the list of official nominees for the Lok Sabha seats in the State would be a mixture of both old and new faces.
To whether the KPCC president and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would together decide appointments to boards and corporations or the party will allow the latter a complete say in the matter, Dr. Parameshwara initially said that the Chief Minister would take a decision in the matter and later emphasised that they two would take a collective decision. “We both will look into the merits of the aspirant and take a decision on the basis of their abilities. There is no difference between us,” he said.
Dr. Parameshwara, who is the first KPCC chief to attend district executive committee meetings to review and elicit views of leaders and workers on development and welfare works taken up by the government, said that the exercise was being taken up as per the directions of the high command.
The media should not misread into it as it was only to help the Congress govern well, he said.
