“The functioning of the Congress government in the State is such that its own partymen are taking exception to it,” Pralhad Joshi, BJP State president and MP, has said.

Mr. Joshi was speaking at the inauguration of the BJP’s election office for the Karnataka West Graduates Constituency here on Sunday.

Referring to Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kagodu Thimmappa, who reportedly termed the Siddaramaiah-led government as “being inactive”, Mr. Joshi alleged that as the State government had become inactive, senior police officials were “fighting” in the open and police personnel had taken to the streets to protest.

“If something happens, who will ensure the safety of the people of the State,” he asked.

Referring to KPCC president G. Parameshwara’s statement, Mr. Joshi said that while Mr. Parameshwara said that injustice had been meted out by the State government to Dalits, Jaffer Sharief was of the opinion that injustice had been meted out to Muslims, and Mr. Thimmappa was of the opinion that injustice had been meted out to all.

“It is a government that is meting out injustice to one and all,” he said.

Expressing confidence that the BJP would win all four Legislative Council seats, Mr. Joshi said the outcome of the elections would have a bearing on the State government.

On the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the issue of bringing back black money illegally stashed abroad and the Congress’ statement that it was the outcome of a Supreme Court direction, Mr. Joshi said the apex court’s direction was given in July 2011. The SC had rejected the UPA government’s appeal against it. He also said that just before the formation of the NDA government, the apex court had taken serious exception to the non-constitution of the SIT by the UPA government.
