Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has accused the Congress and other parties of “conspiring” to prevent him from becoming the Prime Minister.
At a rally on the outskirts of Bijapur city on Sunday, he alleged that the Congress had joined hands with some parties in the Opposition for this purpose.
“The Congress has a fear. And the fear is that if I become the Prime Minister, I will send the party leaders to their ‘appropriate place’. That’s why the Congress is making all efforts to prevent me from becoming the Prime Minister,” he said.
Claiming that people had lost faith in the Congress, Mr. Modi said the party would not even open its account in some States.
ManifestoDescribing the Congress election manifesto as the “manifesto of cheating”, he said,
“For years, the party has been promising that poverty will be eradicated and job opportunities will be increased. People are fed up.”
During the six-year rule of the National Democratic Alliance government, some 6.5 crore jobs were created while in the 10-year regime of the United Progressive Alliance government only 1.25 crore jobs were created, he said.

CorruptionMaking a veiled reference to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement during the release of the Congress manifesto that corruption could not be wished away, Mr. Modi said corruption could be eradicated if there was a strong political will and determination.
“The Congress, whose only aim is to remain glued to the chair of power, has no will or desire to eradicate corruption,” he said.
Higher human interference in policy implementation was leading to corruption, Mr. Modi said, and added that greater “technological intervention” would help check it.
He sought to know why Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi talked only about Gujarat and not about the “achievements” of the UPA government during his election speeches.
He claimed that the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, whose chairperson is Congress president Sonia Gandhi, had declared Gujarat one of the most developed States in the country, and wondered if Mr. Gandhi disagreed with his mother.
BJP candidate in Bijapur Ramesh Jigajinagi, Bagalkot candidate P.C. Gaddigoudar, and the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar were among those present.
