Congress against Alam release

March 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Udupi:

Members of district unit of Congress party staged a dharna in front of the Clock Tower here on Wednesday against the release of the separatist leader Masarat Alam from prison in Jammu and Kashmir on March 7.

Addressing protestors, Congress leader Kolkebail Kishan Hegde said the BJP always criticised the Congress for being soft on terrorists and separatist leaders. But within days of forming a government, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had released Mr. Alam.

The BJP was peeved over the fact that it was not consulted while releasing him, than his being separatist leader, he said.
