‘Cong. will win in Gujarat’

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has predicted Congress victory in the coming Assembly polls in Gujarat.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Sunday, he said the recent reports from Gujarat suggested that people of the State are against BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Not only is the business community upset over the recently introduced GST, even the Patels, Patidars, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, besides Minorities and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are also against the BJP.”

Contrary to the predictions made by the pre-poll surveys, it will be the Congress that will win the Assembly elections in Gujarat, Mr. Siddaramaiah said. He said the BJP’s optimism of winning Gujarat stems from its money power. “They are confident of winning the elections because they are laden with a lot of money, which they will pump in the elections,” he said adding that the BJP enjoys the support of industrialists like Ambani and Adani.

However, Mr. Siddaramaiah sought to make it clear that the outcome of polls in Gujarat will have no effect on the elections to be held here next year.
