Little known to most people, the song of the frogs contain an epic battle between the male and female. Some species of frogs, such as the Bush frogs, have developed ‘circular vocal sacs’ that throws voice around, confusing females (and researchers too).
“The male to female ratio is 10:1 in this species. The female attempts to seek out with the frog with the strongest voice. However, with the males throwing their voice around, the female is confused, giving the ‘other less desirable’ frogs a chance to mate,” says researcher Gururaja K.V.
