Complaints of irregular drinking water supply and lack of cleanliness in Bhadravathi city limits poured in at the city municipal council consultation meeting on Thursday.

Rudrappa, president of House Owners’ Association, who spoke at the meeting on the CMC Budget 2015-16, expressed displeasure against the “failure” to ensure regular supply of drinking water in Khazi Mohallah, Hosamane, Gandhi Nagar, Sidharuda Nagar, Haladammanakeri and surrounding areas of the city. He alleged that though the CMC collected an annual fee to provide drinking water, it had failed to provide the service properly.

Chandrashekharaiah, a resident, demanded the construction of bus shelters at Madhavchar Circle, Halappa Circle and near the railway station. In the absence of bus shelters, people were put to hardship, he claimed.

Yallappa, a resident of New Town locality said the interior roads in the city were in bad condition.

He demanded that the CMC earmark special funds in the budget to repair roads. Commissioner Mookappa Karabheemannanavar said the work of beautifying main junctions in the city, including Dr. Ambedkar Circle, Halappa Circle, Madhavchar Circle and Rangappa Circle would be taken up. Efforts would be made to involve private firms in the beautification work under public-private partnership mode, he added.

CMC president Vishalakshi and vice-president J. Bhagya were present.
