Compensation paid to kin of farmer who died of pesticide poisoning

Krishna Byre Gowda, Minister of State for Agriculture, gave Rs. 1 lakh compensation on Wednesday to the wife of Diwakar, the farmer from Hunsur taluk who died after spraying pesticide Lannate 40 SP pesticide on flat beans in Moduru village in Hunsur taluk.

Later, the Minister spoke to farmers who assembled near Diwakar’s house and asked them to make judicious used of pesticides and to take the assistance of the Agriculture Department in case they had any doubts regarding the use of pesticides. The district administration had banned the use of Lannate 40 SP in the district after the incident.
