Common entrance test on May 1 and 2

April 05, 2014 02:22 am | Updated May 21, 2016 08:38 am IST - BANGALORE:

The calendar of events for the Common Entrance Test (CET) has been announced. While the results of the test, to be held on May 1 and 2, are scheduled to be announced on May 27, verification of documents for the special categories will begin on June 1 and for the others, it will be from June 5 to 23. The last date to submit the brochure-cum-application forms to schools and colleges is April 10. This has been extended from April 4. Like in the previous years, counselling will be online.

However, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) officials have said that the calendar of events is subject to the decision of the State government as the issue of fees and seat matrix is yet to be resolved.

The option entry for the first round of seat allotment has been scheduled from June 25 to July 2. The results of the seat allotment will be published on July 7.

There will be two more rounds of option entry — the second round and the second extended round.

The KEA aims to complete the final seat allotment by July 26, and is likely to ask students admitted to courses in the second extended round to report to colleges before July 30.

What’s new?

There are three major changes this year in the CET. After bringing farm science courses under CET last year, students taking the CET this year will be eligible for admissions to first year degree courses in B.Pharma and D.Pharma, and second year B.Pharma (lateral entry) courses.

Reservation in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region will be considered for allotment of seats from this year. The annual income limit to claim reservation benefits under 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories has been enhanced from Rs. 3.5 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh.

Meanwhile, officials of the Department of Pre-university Education said that II PU results would be announced by the second week of May.
