Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said here on Saturday that the State government had to bear the burden of Rs. 6,000 crore after the Centre accepted recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. The State had to allocate additional funds for the Centrally sponsored schemes following the change in the policy.

He was talking to presspersons at the helipad here. The Chief Minister said the Centre increased the State’s share in Central taxes from 32 per cent to 42 per cent. With that the State got Rs. 8,230 crore more from the Centre. But, on the other hand, the Union government reduced allocation of funds for the Centrally sponsored schemes by Rs. 10,000 crore.

On the crop loss owing to the recent rain, Mr. Siddaramaiah said his government had sanctioned Rs. 25,000 a hectare as compensation.

“No other government has given compensation as much as we have announced,” he said.
