Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is set to complete three years in office on May 13, has expressed satisfaction over the quality of administration and governance provided to the people of the State.

Speaking to presspersons at the Mysuru Airport on Monday, he recalled that he took charge as Chief Minister on Basava Jayanti Day in 2013 – which was May 13 – and there was a sense of fulfilment ahead of the third anniversary. “There were 160 promises in the election manifesto of which 120 have been fulfilled and the remaining will be implemented in two years. There are two more budgets to be presented and they will be taken up during the remaining period of the tenure,” he said.

Besides implementing election promises, the government has taken up many welfare measures and programmes that were not mentioned in the manifesto, said the Chief Minister who reiterated that he was satisfied with the transparency in the administration and the quality of governance. “The government has not been stigmatised by any scandals but for politically motivated baseless allegations.”

‘Jana Mana’ programme on May 13

To mark the third year in office, a ‘Jana Mana’ programme will be held in Bengaluru on May 13 in which senior Cabinet Ministers, apart from the Chief Minister, will participate. On May 14, a booklet highlighting the achievements of the State government will be released at all district centres, Mr. Siddaramaiah said. A meeting of all the MPs of the State has also been convened on May 11 to discuss various projects pertaining to the State as the Parliament session was in progress.

On the pending Cabinet expansion, the Chief Minister said it was postponed due to drought. Now that it has started raining, the expansion may take place by the end of this month. There were young aspirants waiting in the wings and they would be given an opportunity and the exercise will involve reshuffle as also dropping a few Ministers to give an opportunity for others.

In reply to a question Mr. Siddaramaiah said the party high command has directed that the existing chairmen and presidents of boards and corporations who have completed their tenure continue in their respective posts for three more months after which they would be changed.

The Chief Minister is in the city to participate in the Basava Jayanti programmes.
