CM gifts Film City to Mysuru

Will the Film City become a reality in Mysuru? It seems so.

The land for the much-anticipated one-stop destination for film shootings is expected to come up in Varuna, the constituency represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Mr. Siddaramaiah disclosed before a large gathering at the State Film Awards presentation event in Mysuru on Saturday evening that the Film City had been proposed at Himmavu village in his constituency on a 100-acre land. “The Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru had identified the land which is suitable for developing the Film City. Efforts made to develop the Film City in Bengaluru yielded no results and I am sure it will be a reality in Mysuru,” the Chief Minister announced.

He also said that his government was committed to fulfilling the Kannada film industry’s long-pending demand for setting up the Film City. Earlier, the Chief Minister presented the State Film Awards for the year 2012 and 2013 at a colourful ceremony at the Maharaja College Grounds.

Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Kannada and Culture Umashree, Minister for Information and Public Relations R. Roshan Baig, Minister in-charge of Mysuru district V. Sreenivas Prasad, Minister for Public Works H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya, Minister for Cooperation H.S. Mahadeva Prasad and several other dignitaries were present.

Awards for 2012

Tallana bagged the First Best Film award while Bharat Stores and Yadegarike secured the second and third Best Film awards respectively. Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna starring Darshan Toogudeepa bagged the Best Entertainment Film award.

Darshan Toogudeepa bagged the Best Actor award for the same film while Nirmala Chennappa received the Best Actress award for Tallana . Arjun Janya bagged the Best Music Director’s award for Alemaari . Mysuru’s Vasu Dixit received the Best Singer award for the song Hale Cycle Hattikondu in the film Cyber Yogadol and Anuradha Bhat for her song in Little Master .

Awards for 2013

Haj bagged the First Best Film award while Jatta and Prakruthi secured the second and third Best Film awards respectively.

Charminar starring Ajay Rao bagged the Best Entertainment Film. Nikhil Manju received the Best Actor award for his role in Haj while Niveditha took home the Best Actress award for the film December 1 .

Naveen Sajju of Mysuru bagged the Best Singer award for the film Lucia and Sachita Heggar bagged the Best Singer award (female) for her song in Kaddipudi .

Poornachandra Tejaswi of Mysuru bagged the Best Music Director’s award for the film Lucia .
