CM announces special grant of Rs. 50 cr. for Haveri

Projects worth Rs. 230 crore initiated

After having initiated projects worth Rs. 230 crore of 15 different departments, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a special grant of Rs. 50 crore for Haveri district on Saturday.

The Chief Minister was in Haveri along with Ministers H.K. Patil, Ramalinga Reddy, H. Anjaneya, Rudrappa Lamani, and Pramod Madhwaraj, former Minister Manohar Tahsildar and a host of elected representatives to lay the foundation stone for projects.

He also inaugurated the new bus station of Haveri and the new Haveri Bus Depot built at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crore and Rs. 2.61 crore respectively. He also launched the North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation’s online service ‘Seva Spandana’.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that his government had fulfilled almost all the assurances given by his party in the last three years and was committed to facilitate development in every sector.

New buses

Responding to the plea by elected representatives, he said he had already directed Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy to provide as many new buses as possible not only to Haveri district but also the districts in North Karnataka.

Lauded

Lauding the contributions of freedom fighter Hosamani Siddappa (the district stadium was named after him on Saturday), he said Hosamani Siddappa was a model to the society, particularly the youths. The Chief Minister also unveiled the statue of former Chief Minister J.H. Patel, who was responsible fort the carving out of Haveri district, and named the Public Library after writer Mahadev Banakar.

Referring to the competition between Byadgi MLA Basavaraj Shivannavar and Minister Rudrappa Lamani (Haveri MLA) for funds, he said there should be healthy competition between legislators for the cause of development. A host of officials were also present on the occasion.
