Cleanliness drive in Chitradurga from today

To create awareness among people about steps that should be taken to control the spread of diseases, the district administration has organised cleanliness drive for one week from June 16 to June 22 at different places, especially in slum areas across the district, Deputy Commissioner Srirangaiah has said.

Speaking at a meeting of district-level officers here recently to discuss preparations, he said that on June 17 the cleanliness drive would be launched in slum areas in the district, on June 18 the programme would be held at educational institutions and hotels, on June 19, the programme would be held at government buildings, on June 20 at public places, including bus terminals and gardens, on June 21 at government and private hospitals and on June 22 at factories in the district.

The focus would be on taking precautionary steps to avoid the spread of dengue, (A)H1N1, malaria and cholera. Hotel owners and educational institutions should maintain maximum cleanliness in their surroundings. Contractors should also ensure cleanliness around construction sites and avoid stagnation of water.
