The public vented their anger at the state of affairs at the Regional Transport Offices at Jayanagar and Koramangala when the City in-charge and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inspected these offices on Wednesday.

Citizens complained about uncooperative and rude officials, who often don’t turn up for duty on time. N. Jawad, who had applied for a driving licence, said citizens were being harassed unnecessarily and said the learners’ licence counters closed before time.

Being besieged by frustrated citizens, Mr. Reddy directed the Transport Commissioner to issue notices to officials who report to work late. Officials were instructed to mark attendance registers by 10.15 a.m, he said.

Action against clerk

After inspecting the dispatch section at Jayanagar, he asked officials to issue a notice to a second division clerk who had failed to dispatch smart cards to applicants on time. About repeated complaints about buses breaking down, he said it was responsibility of the depot manager to ensure the vehicles were in proper running condition.
