The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Mysore has set an agenda for infrastructure development and enhancing industry competitiveness as part of its vision for Mysore for 2014–15.
This was spelt out by the new chairman for 2014–15 R.C. Jagadesh, director, Klueber Lubrications Pvt. Ltd. He takes over from S. Nagarajan, associate vice-president and head, Mysore Centre of Infosys Ltd. Similarly, Vishwaprasad Alva, managing director, Skanray Technologies, was appointed vice-chairman.
Encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation, and engagement with the State government will be the other areas of priority. A lot of thrust will be given to making Mysore a model city, said Mr. Jagadesh.
A CII release said the new team would focus and concentrate on four growth drivers identified in CII’s ‘Roadmap for the development of Mysore’ to further economic progress in the region. Focus on infrastructure will remain its priority, with thrust on connectivity and work on initiatives identified in the report, it said.
On enhancing competitiveness, CII Mysore said it would work with MSMEs to improve their current size and status.
“All these will be driven through support from CII Centres of Excellence. Through CII-IPFC, Mysore, we facilitated registration of 26 trademarks, four patents and five designs, apart from organising several workshops and seminars for MSMEs on Intellectual Property. These initiatives would be continued more aggressively this year as well,” said CII.
CII said it would work towards bringing the industry and institutions together, and encourage entrepreneurship among aspiring students. “We will continue to strengthen our engagement and work closely with the government on establishment of Passport Seva Kendra, Brownfield electronic cluster, promotion of tourism along with yoga and wellness, promotion of agro – food processing and IT/ ITES and electronic systems and design manufacturing investment destination in the region,” it added.
