CID submits status report on Bande’s death

January 30, 2014 01:31 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:59 pm IST - Bangalore:

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has submitted a status report to the State government on the death of police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande who died on January 15. A CID inquiry was ordered following an uproar in the legislature, when several members alleged involvement of Inspector-General of Police Mohammad Wazir Ahmed in Mr. Bande’s death.

A team of officials, led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Soumendu Mukherjee, submitted a four-page status report, based on which the government is likely to reply in the Assembly. A senior officer, who was part of the investigation, rubbished rumours about the CID giving a clean chit to the IGP.

“Investigation is still on. We have to collect the FSL report, and record the statement of doctors and police who were present during the shootout,” the officer said.
