Cholera outbreak: toll rises to five in Bhadravati

A 70-year-old woman, Jayamma, died here on Friday, taking the death toll in the outbreak of cholera at Maidolalu village in Bhadravati taluk to five.

Jayamma hailed from Kaginelli village in Shikaripur taluk. She had been to her relative’s house at Maidolalu to attend a wedding ceremony.

She was admitted to McGann Hospital, attached to Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences here, on February 10. She was shifted to a private hospital in the city the next day.

Health deteriorated

As Jayamma’s health became stable, she was discharged from the hospital on February 14 and was taken to Kaginelli. On Friday, her health suddenly deteriorated, resulting in her death.
