A childless couple committed suicide in Gadag district reportedly unable to bear the pain of not having children. The incident occurred at Dambal village in Mundaragi taluk of Gadag district during the early hours of Friday.
According to the police, the husband Basavaraj Karigar (35) committed suicide by hanging himself at his home while his wife Sudha (29) was asleep. Sudha woke up later, only to find her husband hanging. She rushed to alert her relatives in the village. On getting the news, her relatives rushed to Karigar’s house.
Sudha, who stayed back at her relative’s house, doused herself with kerosene and set herself on fire. Before others could rush to save her, she was dead.
The Mundaragi police have registered a case.
