Chikkamagaluru gets Panchayat Raj Sashaktikaran award

Chikkamagaluru district has won the Panchayat Raj Sashaktikaran (empowerment) award, instituted by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of India, for effective implementation of the development scheme by panchayat raj institutions in the district during 2013-14.

The award will be presented at the National Panchayat Raj celebrations being held at New Delhi on Friday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to a communiqué from the Chikkamagaluru district administration, M.B. Shankarappa, Chief Planning Officer of Chikkamagaluru Zilla Pamchayat, will receive the award. The district was chosen for the award after reviewing the administration of panchayat raj institutions across the district by a Union government committee.
