Chikkaboraiah passes away

Former MLA and freedom fighter P.M. Chikkaboraiah (94), died in the city on Tuesday. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

He was born at Paduvarahalli in the city on October 12, 1921, and completed his education in Mysuru. He was imprisoned during the freedom struggle and later completed his legal education in 1951. He was associated with many social institutions and trusts and was the former president of the Mysuru Bar Association. Prof. Chikkaboraiah was also principal of the Vidyavardhaka Law College and later president of the Vidyavardhaka educational institutions in the city. Prof. Chikkaboraiah represented the Chamaraja Assembly constituency between 1986 and 1989. District in-charge Minister V. Srinivas Prasad condoled his death and described Prof. Chikkaboraiah as a role model whose life was marked by simplicity. Besides, he had rendered exemplary service to social and educational fields, said Mr. Prasad.
