Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is arriving at Keralli, a village in Chamarajanagar taluk, on Friday to launch the project of filling Kabini river water to 20 tanks in Nanjangud, Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet taluks.

The project had been devised during the BJP’s rule in the State.

The then Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had been persuaded by local leaders and Suttur math seer Deshikendra Swami to implement this project to improve the groundwater level and to ease the drinking water problems.

First phase

In the first phase, Kabini waters had been released into Konanur kere, Halepura kere and Bendravadi kere.

Second phase

In the second phase, the works related to filling 10 tanks in Chamarajanagar talluk with the river water would be taken up.

Addressing the presspersons here on Wednesday, the former Chamarajanagar BJP MLA C. Guruswamy said that the seer of Suttur math, Deshikendra Mahaswami, should be requested to grace the occasion on Friday.

Ex-MLA displeased

Meanwhile, Mr. Guruswamy expressed displeasure over the Suttur math seer not being invited. The role of Suttur math seer cannot be forgotten while devising and implementing this project.
