CFTRI relief material diverted to Cuddalore

December 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 02:27 pm IST - Mysuru:

The second consignment of food packets and water from the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) was diverted to Cuddalore from Chennai as local agencies had already made sufficient arrangements for such supplies there.

“We had to redirect the supplies to Cuddalore since there was a dire need of such essentials in the coastal district. As the local agencies in Chennai managed to arrange food and water, we send our supplies to Cuddalore,” CSIR-CFTRI director Ram Rajashekaran told The Hindu on Monday.

He said that at present, there was no fresh request for food or water from the rain-hit State since local agencies were making arrangements. “The response to our efforts in Cuddalore was good,” he said.
