The High Court of Karnataka was on Friday informed that the Union government was moving the Supreme Court seeking transfer of all the petitions filed in various High Courts questioning the validity of certain provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

Following this, Justice B.S. Patil adjourned to August 22 the hearing on the petitions filed by various cooperative housing societies challenging the constitutional validity of applying RERA provisions on them.

When the petitions came up for hearing, Additional Solicitor General of India (Karnataka HC) Prabhuling K. Navadgi said some HCs have already deferred hearings on RERA-related petitions following submissions made on behalf of the Centre.
