Water Resources Minister and district in-charge M.B. Patil has claimed that the BJP government at the Centre was planning an I-T raid on him and his friends.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the inauguration of Buddha Vihar here on Wednesday, he said the BJP government was doing so because of his support for a separate religious minority tag for Lingayats.

“The BJP is misusing the Income Tax Department as political vendetta,” he alleged.

On the phone tapping allegations, Mr. Patil said he still has some proof that his phone was tapped and accused the BJP of trying to tap the phones of prominent Congress leaders.

“I have brought this matter to the notice of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Home Minister too,” he said.

To a question, he said he would release proof of his phone being tapped at an appropriate time.
