Central team to visit two Hassan taluks

An inter-Ministerial team from the Union government will be visiting parts of Arsikere and Belur taluks on Friday to assess the impact of drought.

The team will consist of N.M. Krishnanuni, Director of Central Water Commission and M. Thulasidas, General Manager of Food Corporation of India, Regional Office, Bangalore.

The team will arrive at Hassan on Thursday night and proceed to Belur and Arsikere taluks to take stock of the things.

The State government had submitted a memorandum to the Department of Agriculture apprising it about the adverse effects of drought in many parts of the State, including Arsikere and Belur taluks. As a result, the Union government is sending a team of nine members, headed by R.B. Sinha, Joint Secretary of the Department of Agriculture. The team has been divided into four groups. Each group will visit different parts of Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Ramanagaram and Hassan districts.

Arasikere and Belur taluks have been facing drought for many years now.
