A Central team will tour the districts affected by excessive rain for four days from September 23, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of Janata Darshan here on Tuesday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the State had sought the Centre’s assistance as the estimated loss due to excessive rain in the State was Rs. 2,000 crore.

Following the appeal, the Union government is sending the team to assess the actual damage. The State had, before seeking funds from the Centre, released Rs. 130 crore to Deputy Commissioners for taking up relief works, he added.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that he would tour the State from September 19 to understand the problems being faced by the people in the districts.
