Tired of waiting for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 results, several city-based schools affiliated to the board started classes for Class 11 students earlier this week.
Most schools have provisionally admitted the students for Class 11 based on the marks in the preparatory exams. While some schools have begun teaching the Class 11 syllabus, some others are conducting orientation programme for their students. While the Class 10 results are normally announced in the last week of May, this year there has been a delay as the exams started late because of the Legislative Assembly elections in five States.
The Class 10 results are scheduled to be announced on Saturday.
Siddharth G., a student, said, “We have started our classes for grade 11 without knowing how we have done in Class 10. There is so much anxiety among students as the results have been delayed.”
A principal of a CBSE school located in east Bengaluru said they began classes on Thursday. “We know that all our students will pass so we have started classes as we do not want to waste any time. Moreover, classes for all other students have started; so, how can we leave out Class 11 students?” the principal said.
Orientation classes
Manju Sharma, principal, Delhi Public School Bangalore South, said the school had started orientation classes for students who have done provisional admissions. They were being given an introduction to various subjects, streams and career opportunities, and formal classes would being from Monday.
