Alleging that irregularities had taken place in the recruitments made to various posts between 2010 and 2013 at the University of Agricultural Sciences-Bangalore (UAS-B), the former chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes C. S. Dwarakanath has sought either a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a judicial inquiry.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he also accused UAS-B Vice-Chancellor K. Narayana Gowda of “making deviations” in the selection procedures. He alleged that Prof. Gowda “has misused his official position by indulging in various malpractices.”
Mr. Dwarakanath also alleged that of the 52 people who were demoted, 48 belonged to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes categories.
VC clarifies
Strongly denying the allegations of malpractices, UAS-B Vice-Chancellor Narayana Gowda stated that all the rules and procedures had been followed during the appointments. Referring to the allegations that 48 Dalit faculty had been demoted, he said that had been done as per the directions of the Karnataka High Court.
Taking exception to the efforts to create confusion among people at a time when the University had been rated as the best agricultural university of the country by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, he said the University would soon provide a detailed clarification on all the issues raised by Mr. Dwarakanath.
