Admitting delay in including Section 307 of the IPC in the FIR in the assault case involving Mohammed Nalapad Haris, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday announced that the case filed against the victim by the accused will be withdrawn. Responding to the Opposition in the Council, he admitted there were lapses by the Inspector in registering the case against the victim and delay in arresting accused.

Earlier, in his preliminary submission to move the adjournment motion, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa alleged that children of Congress leaders, legislators and party office-bearers are assuming that they can indulge in ‘goondagiri’.

The House witnessed noisy scenes after the Minister said that the cafe where the alleged assault by Mohammed Nalapad took place was frequented by children of big politicians and celebrities, When the Opposition members demanded that the Minister name those who were present on the day of the incident, he refused to divulge the names, resulting in an uproar for a while.

Meanwhile, in the Legislative Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar accused the State government of supporting “goonda raj culture” by not taking preventive steps.
