Cartoonist Satish Sringeri dead

Well-known cartoonist and Ayurveda physician Satish Sringeri (44) passed away here this morning after brief illness.

Having penchant for caricature, Dr. Satish began drawing curved lines right from his school days when he was studying at the Abhinava Ramananda High School, Kigga, a remote village near Sringeri.

He continued the passion during college days at Sri Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharathi Memorial College, Sringeri, and ALN Rao Memorial Ayurveda College, Gadag. A postgraduate in Ayurveda medicine, Dr. Satish briefly worked as a teacher, as a scientist with a pharmaceutical company before undertaking own practice.

Dr. Satish regularly contributed cartoons, which were full of wit and humour, to Kannada daily Samyukta Karnataka . He had also arranged exhibition of his cartoons.

He leaves behind parents, wife, son, a brother and a sister. The body will be kept at his residence near Kathriguppe Water Tank for people to pay last respects. His last rites will be conducted at the Chamarajapet crematorium in the afternoon, said family sources.
