B.G. Ranganath, Vice Principal, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar said forcing the courses on the students by their parents does not augur well for the future of their wards.

“Any course pursued by the student should be by choice based on their interest and not by force of the parents or any other people”, Mr. Ranganath opined.

He was the Chief Guest at the The Hindu EducationPlus career counseling session at T. Thimmaiah Seminar Hall of Dr. T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology (TTIT) at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) on Sunday (May 24).

Dr. Ranganath expressed concern that if the courses were hoisted by force on the students, they will face problems in studies.

Saying that the health care sector in the country is suffering from shortage of doctors, Mr. Ranganath said there was ample scope to widen the medical education. “There is scope to establish hundreds of medical colleges to produce more doctors in order to provide better health care to the people”, he said. Allied health sciences and para-medical courses too have good opportunities, he noted.

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) nodal officer Zia Ullaha Khan dealt in length with the procedures involved in online admission process for professional courses. He explained minute details of the online procedures to clear the apprehensions among students and parents.

CIGMA INDIA representative Kala Balasubramanian of ‘Inner Dawn’ gave a lively, interactive presentation on general education field. More than 15,000 courses are available and it is increasing day by day, she said and counseled students to make the choice on their interest and aptitude. “Perseverance and patience is needed to achieve success in any field”, she said.
