Canara Bank launched a host of facilities, including its second e-lounge, here on Wednesday.

The facilities were launched by chairman and managing director R.K. Dubey, who also inaugurated the new premises of its NRI branch near the Clock Tower. The NRI branch was earlier functioning from Nazarabad.

Mr. Dubey said that India had received more than 70 billion dollars by way of NRI remittance and it was imperative that banks put systems in place to ensure hassle-free remittance. He said in terms of technology, the bank had made rapid advances being located in the IT hub of Bangalore and the same had percolated down to Mysore. The bank was going from strength to strength solely owing to the support of its customers and hence the bank should extend facilities to them, he said. The bank, which has already extended e-sewa facility to Chamundeshwari temple for the benefit of devotees, installed an ATM, which was inaugurated by Mr. Dubey. He later launched the e-lounge facility, which was described as a step towards accelerating the bank’s initiatives to harness technology. The e-lounge is at the Jayalakshmipuram branch of the bank and offers all banking facilities, including cash withdrawal, cash deposit, passbook printing, fund transfer and online trading without any manual intervention, 24x7.

Earlier, Canara Bank donated a school bus to the Divya Jyothi Trust for the Blind as part of its corporate social responsibility. The bank also felicitated a few of its NRI customers.

Senior officials, including S.S. Bhat, general manager from the head office and S.T. Ramachandra, deputy general manager, Circle Office, were present.
