A crucial Cabinet meeting called to discuss accepting retired High Court judge H.N. Nagamohan Das Committee report recommending ‘religious minority’ tag for the Lingayat community will be held on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters at Hoolihalli in Haveri district on Tuesday that the discussion on the report was incomplete in the previous Cabinet meet.

Though Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra said the Cabinet had a prolonged discussion on the committee report and the discussion remained inconclusive, sources said Ministers such as Municipal Administration Minister Eshwar B. Khandre and Horticulture Minister S.S. Mallikarjun reportedly opposed the report recommending the ‘religious minority’ tag only for Lingayat and not for Lingayat/Veerashaiva.
