Cabinet expansion shortly, says Siddaramaiah

June 24, 2017 05:27 pm | Updated 05:27 pm IST - MYSURU:

Having forwarded Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s resignation letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala for acceptance, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the State Cabinet will shortly be expanded.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Saturday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Cabinet will be expanded to fill up the vacancies.

Mr. Parameshwar had resigned from the Cabinet after the High Command decided to have him continue in the post of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for the Assembly elections next year.

A Cabinet expansion will be carried out to fill the three existing vacancies, but Mr. Siddaramaiah said no decision had been taken on the date of the expansion.

A Government Order on the farm loan waiver, which Mr. Siddaramaiah announced in the Legislature recently, will be issued on Saturday. All the co-operative bank farm loans outstanding on June 20 will be waived, he said.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said directions had been issued to authorities to take action against miscreants stoking communal trouble in Dakshina Kannada district.

Reacting to JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy accusing him of promoting his family members in politics, Mr. Siddaramaiah shot back and said the people of the State are aware of the number of legislators in former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s family and his family. “Even after spending 40 years in politics, my children have not become legislators,” said Mr. Siddaramaiah. He said he did not want to respond to former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s statement on him.
