Two persons accused of destruction of evidence in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case were remanded in judicial custody till August 24 by a court here.
Bhaskar Shetty, a businessman, went missing from his house here on July 28 and his mother Gulabi Shetty lodged a missing complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29.
The police arrested Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari (46) and his son Navneet (24) on the charge of murdering Shetty and destroying evidence on August 7.
A priest Niranjan Bhat (25), said to be close to Rajeshwari and Navneet, at Nitte on August 8. He is reported to have helped the other accused dispose Shetty’s body. The police have, so far, not recovered Shetty’s body.
The police arrested two more accused – Srinivas Bhat, father of Niranjan Bhat, and Raghavendra, Niranjan’s car driver - at Nandalike village on August 10.
Both Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra were produced before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on the charge of destruction of evidence in the case here on Thursday. “Both of them have been remanded in judicial custody till August 24,” said Praveen Kumar R.N., Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor here.
