Five buses were damaged and two drivers were injured in stone-pelting on Sunday evening and Monday morning in the wake of the protest called by the employees of the North-Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC).

Of the five buses, four belonged to the Shahpur and Surpur depots of the Yadgir division and one was from Aland depot of the Kalaburagi Division.

Three buses belonging to the Surpur depot were attacked by miscreants with stones at Sirguppa town and Ballari in Ballari district and Kavadimatti village in Surpur taluk when they were returning from Bengaluru on Monday morning, Santosh Gogeri, Divisional Controller, Yadgir division, told The Hindu .

One bus belonging to Shahpur depot, which was going to Pune from Shahpur via Surpur, was stoned near Hattigudur village on Sunday evening. Driver Rafiq suffered minor injuries.

Another bus belonging to the Aland depot, which was returning from Bengaluru, was stoned near Kavadimatti village in Surpur taluk and the driver, Chandrakanth, suffered injuries. Both the drivers were rushed to the taluk hospital at Surpur.
