Minister for Transport R. Ramalinga Reddy.

Minister for Transport R. Ramalinga Reddy.

Minister for Transport R. Ramalinga Reddy said that his Department had not, at present, thought of slashing bus fares in the state.

Speaking to media representatives here on Monday, he said, “we are aware of plummeting prices of crude oil in the international market. Transport fares, however, cannot be altered as and when there would be a slight variation in the oil price in the international market”. He justified the decision by stating that no other state in the country had not slashed the public transport fares despite fall of oil prices.

To a question, the Minister said that his Department had constantly been replacing older buses with new ones so as to ensure safe and comfortable journey for its commuters.

Revenue Minister V. Srinivasa Prasad, Sindhanur MLA Hampanagowda Badarli, Maski MLA Pratapgowda Patil and others were present.
